CORONAVIRUS GUIDANCE LETTER

March 13, 2020

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians:

Yesterday, you received a letter from the Dighton-Rehoboth School District Superintendent, Dr. Azar, explaining how the school district will work together to keep our school communities healthy. At the high school, we know that students and parents will have questions about how the guidelines affect high school students specifically. As we work together to keep our school community healthy, we will bear some inconveniences.

 As of today:

  • The SATs scheduled to be administered at DRRHS this Saturday have been cancelled
  • You can go to the College Board website for guidance on how to get a refund or reschedule your SAT test
  • the ASVAB test administration scheduled for Monday, March 16th, has been postponed to a date to be determined
  • we are suspending plans for the Citizens Scholarship Foundation door-to-door campaign scheduled for next weekend (March 20th-22nd)
  • the high school will not host the Steamposium this year
  • The College Fair and Junior College Planning Night, March 26th, has been cancelled

We regret the inconvenience these changes will bring to students and families. As circumstances develop we may make adjustments to future High School offerings. If you have additional questions, please call the administrative team at the high school.

 Sincerely,

 DRRHS Administration

MIAA Letter / Spring Sports Season

Dear Student-Athletes, Parents, and Guardians,

Yesterday, the MIAA Board of Directors held a conference call to discuss the status of the MIAA spring sports season that was scheduled to start on Monday, March 16, 2020.  After much discussion, the Board of Directors’ decision is to delay the start of the 2020 spring season until March 30, 2020.

DRRHS is a member of the MIAA; therefore, we must abide by their regulations. No practices, tryouts, or coaches’ practices are to take place during this time.

As we receive more information we will share it with each of you. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Dr. John Gould                                   Mr. Douglas Kelley

DRRHS Principal                              Dean of Student Activities and Athletics

COVID 19 Dighton Rehoboth Regional High School

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School wanted to inform you as soon as possible of today’s closing of JFK Presidential Library and Museum due to possible exposure to COVID-19. As our students were on a field trip yesterday to JFK Library, we wanted to share this information with you immediately. Two employees at JFK library were recently in contact with COVID-19 at an event, not held at JFK library. These individuals are not exhibiting symptoms at this time. The library and state public health officials are working to take the proper precautions and stated, “The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is closing immediately and until further notice after learning that two employees attended a conference last week where other attendees were confirmed to have come down with the coronavirus. Neither of the Library employees have shown symptoms and both are in self-quarantine. While neither of our employees have shown symptoms and the risk of transmission is low, we are notifying the public out of an abundance of caution. If you have visited the Library between March 2 and March 11, please monitor your health for symptoms of coronavirus, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you experience symptoms, please seek medical care. The Library has been working with state public health officials to ensure all proper health measures are taken”. (JFK Presidential Library and Museum)

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School urges parents to follow the recommendations stated in the release from the JFK Presidential Library and Museum.  We will continue to monitor the situation at the high school and communicate information as we receive it, in accordance with our local Board of Health and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Dighton Board of Health at (508) 669-5182 and Massachusetts Department of Public Health Infectious Disease (617) 983-6550.

Thank you,

DRRHS Administration
