Do you enjoy spending time with young children? Early Childhood Education may be the program for you!  Throughout your four years in our program you will have the opportunity to work in the Little Falcons Preschool where you will interact with children ages 3-5.  During classroom time, you will learn about child development, how to create lesson plans, and how to keep children safe.  In your junior and senior year, you will have the opportunity to work in the field at a childcare center and be paid for the work that you do!  Early Childhood is an ever expanding field, children are born every day and need a quality program with qualified teachers; our Early Childhood Education will prepare you to be a strong teacher.  When you graduate, you will be eligible to obtain you Preschool teacher certificate through the Department of Early Education and Care.  Join our program to help shape the minds of young children and build a successful career!

Kate_Langlois_Icon

Mrs. Kate Langlois is one of the Early Childhood Education CTE teachers at DRRHS. Before teaching at D-R, she worked in the Early Childhood field as a Education and Family Engagement Specialist, Head Teacher and Teacher. Mrs. Langlois has a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bridgewater State University. Her goals are to expose her students to as much knowledge and experiences as possible in the Early Childhood field.

Kara Bosco

Mrs. Kara Bosco is one of the Early Childhood Education CTE program teachers at DRRHS.  Before teaching at D-R, she has had many roles as an Early Childhood Educator.  Mrs. Bosco has taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, worked as a reading tutor,  and paraprofessional for students in special education.  She was an inclusion classroom teacher for 13 years.  Mrs. Bosco has a Masters Degree in Moderate Disabilities PreK - 8 and a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Plymouth State College.  Her goals are to inspire her students to be excited and prepared to join the Early Childhood workforce, as well as, learn how to be effective and influential Early Childhood employees.  Mrs. Bosco is also the head coach for the D-R girls lacrosse team and the assistant field hockey coach at D-R!

Freshman Year: Child Development, Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Health and Safety, Types of Early Childhood programs

Sophomore Year: Child Development, Assessment and Observation, Planning and implementing the ECE environment, OSHA, CPR/First Aid.

Junior Year: Classroom Safety, Classroom Routines/Expectations, Developing Curriculum,

Senior Year: Special Education laws and regulations, Cover letters and resumes, Planning and Implementing Curriculum, opportunity to participate in the cooperative education program, and Senior Showcase.
